I would tell him you don't want to quit and that you will be back. Keep your options open until the time comes when your maternity leave is over and you have to make a decision. Also, you will have a better idea of the new expenses and will be able to have better judgment on whether or not you can financially stay at home or not. You may realize after 6 weeks of being home with both kids that you really do want to go back to work. ;)
