How do i legally get my pocessions back from my ex. girlfriend?

Go to the local court house and tell them that you wish to start a claim against someone to retrieve property belonging to you which is currently in their possession. Ask to speak to someone who can advise you how to go about doing this. Emphasise you are not looking for legal advise, but simply for someone to explain to you procedurally how you can commence a claim. You will have to pay a small fee to make a claim, but it won't be anywhere near what a lawyer would charge you. You will basically fill out a form and then there will be a hearing if the judge considers your claim is sufficiently strong. The criteria for him making this decision will be something along the lines of: can you prove the possessions are yours, can you prove she has them, are they of significant value (yes - $6,000). Good luck. Just ask at the court, theres nothing to lose.. if you don't ask - you don't get.
