Who are all the people protecting child molesters?

I think if you molest a child, you should be painlessly put out of our misery. Like a rabid dog. That being impossible, I think you should be locked up forever. We can live without them. I am constantly reading about someone who molests some kid and then gets two or three years in prison. I don't get it. Who are the army of people fighting for child molesters to get put back into society. I thought everyone agreed that child molesters were probably the nastiest people on Earth. Why isn't it "One Strike You're Dead," or at least "One Strike, You're Locked Up Forever." Is there some groundswell movement I don't understand that thinks child molesters are just peachy keen, and we need more of them walking around? Or do a majority of people have someone they like who is a child molester? Or am I the only person who thinks that this is really a detestable crime? What is the deal here, I would really like to know.
