Good two tone layered hair color/styles?

Right Now I have light brown hair, more blonde at the top and i want to dye my hair like on the bottom layer one color and on the first top layer another color. i want something along the lines of light brown and burgundy or amber and light golden brown. im trying to figure out if it should be light on darker or darker on lighter. i dont want to make my face look pale if the top color is too dark. any ideas or pictures? thanks
