Reusable nappy advice?

i used cloth diapers with a velcro outer shell, the cloth was the liner, if you want to deal with all that mess and smell, i only tried it on my first, (i have 3 almost grown sons) i would work a second job in order to pay for disposable diapers, their great, i only used the others in emergencies, after that.
